GENERAL INFORMATION

OPEN DOOR

If there is anything you wish to discuss please ring Allison, Colleen or Tracie to arrange a convenient time to do so.

Our Charter and Targets are available in the foyer for your perusal.

Board of Trustee Meetings are held on a monthly basis.  Parents and caregivers are most welcome to attend.  Notification of date and time is published in the fortnightly newsletter.

The Behaviour and Discipline Policy is our main framework of behavioural expectations for students, families and staff.  We appreciate the support of families for this important document.

The ‘Code of Conduct’ was originally developed by the students and staff and Board of Trustees of Waingaro school in 1995 and is regularly reviewed by staff, students and Board of Trustees.

Waingaro School has a special character of its own.  It operates under a caring, friendly and personal ‘family’ atmosphere.  This special character should be fostered and preserved by all those who are associated with the school.

It is expected that by all parties following the ‘Code of Conduct’ and fulfilling the ‘Expectations of Parents’, we will be able to uphold and preserve the special character and atmosphere of our school.

Staff and students alike have the right to work and learn in a safe, pleasant and supportive environment, unhindered by poor behaviours and attitudes.

It is expected that parents will support this “Code’ and the decisions made at school by the staff and Board of Trustees.

REPORTING TO PARENTS

A newsletter is issued fortnightly and sent home with the children.  At the beginning of each term it will also outline work to be studied over the term.

Each child has an Achievement Book.  This replaces traditional report cards.  These books contain details of tasks and achievements met by students on an individual basis.  Achievement Books go home in Term 2 & 4 for perusal and comment by parents. Parent Interviews are held in Term 1.  Parents are encouraged to contact us if they have any concerns throughout the term.  When a child leaves our school these books are forwarded by us to their new school as part of their progress records.

BUS

Please inform one of the drivers if your child will not be on the bus or let someone on the run know.  This eliminates wasting time waiting at any particular stop.

Please impress upon your children the need to travel safely, without causing distraction for the driver.  Bus monitors report directly to staff.

If your child will be absent, please ring to let us know, or send a note on their return.
